For the Fun of It - i finished my early childhood education certification!
finished school, finished being cool
HIIII! I missed last week- a combination of a few things at once, and a trip. I’m writing this currently from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I’m in the Maritimes for a wonderful wedding of a dear friend of about a bazillion years, and it’s been so much fun and I have been soaking up as much folk art as I can. Should I buy this cool seagull??? Don’t answer. ANYWAY.
I also finished my LAST week of my Early Childhood Education Certification through UCLA!
I started the certification about a year ago- not really sure what I would do with it. But I kept with it, and I’ve been so grateful I have.
I have focused my energy on preschool for the last 5 years or so. I write picture books, and I work in preschool television. It’s been important to me to really learn about the development of children, to inform my work. I don’t have kids yet, so learning so much about them has been useful.
Here’s some selected drawings from the program!!
In one of my courses, we explored family traditions…
I actually did not know that falls were so dangerous, though I did fall SO MUCH as a child.
I looooved designing this dream inside/outside classroom.
Most of my assignments were writing, so I treasured the times where I got to do some drawings!!
I was in a rush to get some magnets ready for a craft fair, and didn’t wait long enough for my resin gloss to cure. The consequence?? The face of this painted cat fell off.
You really can’t rush the top coat!! Next time I’ll do it over a longer period.
I should have some of these up on my website in the next couple of weeks.
If you ever plan on going to a wedding in Nova Scotia, you better brush up on your shanties. Most particularly, Stan Roger’s “Barrett’s Privateers”. You haven’t lived until the wedding fiddler has a solo, and everyone wails “HOW I WISH I WAS IN SHERBROOKE NOW!”
ok love u bye.
TIL there's a Sherbrooke in NS. I was confused that there would be a sea shanty about Sherbrooke QC because that's in the middle of land *lol* Glad you had a lovely time and I love seeing all your class work. So... what are you going to do with all this knowledge now?
I love the rise of chicken coops with our generation
