I'm actually from Quebec but moving to the U.S caused to forget the French language so I've been trying to relearn it myself. So far it's been an interesting ride! A lot of the time I end up speaking franglais because there are still some words I don't know. I loved reading about the the airplane milk incident it made me laugh!! 😂
You just reminded me of the funny English(ish) words me and my sister would say when we were little and didn't totally understand the language yet: "chicken bag" instead of sleeping bag, "bay-ling suit" for bathing suit... they TOTALLY made sense to us at the time!
Did you guys do dictées at school? I had the realization recently that I don't think we ever had a single spelling bee, but we did dictées all the time - I figured it's a French thing? Anyway, I feel like it's something I feel that ALL schools should consider when I read about how much students seem to be struggling with literacy and spelling these days...
